Sydney Harbour Jews

Hi Raiders,

I'm a new member and this is my first post so howdy all!!!

I've been fishing the harbour for many years and I've got the knack of getting a few yacka every now and then and converting into a few kings (managed to do so last Sunday), but I've never nailed that illusive (well to me at least) big Jew.

I was wondering; Are they really only an option on live/fresh squid? and where in the harbour can they be found?

I know that good Jewie holes in the harbour are probably like hen's teeth and if you don't wish to disclose that's cool....i'd just love to nail one of the buggers?

Are there any particular tides that are preferred in Sydney Harbour? Day or Night?

Cheers,

Muddy

Hey Muddy,

Get yourself the appropriate admiralty chart (AUS 200 for MH/PJ, 201 eastern sheet) and go over every inch of it studiously. Be prepared to put in long hours on the water, keep checking the reports here, the patterns are clear after a while. Tides, moon phase, ambient light and atmospheric conditions all play their part. My angling 'mentors' catchprase is: 'every hours reconaissance is worth ten in the field'. His most valued item of tackle is the kitchen table, and he spanks it in the field 9/10 times. Not a specific answer for you - keep in mind you're asking for the location of the Holy Grail :1worthy:

Don't believe BrettP... he took me to Spot X and helped me get my first Jewie (see.... I'm still talking about it!!). Funny thing though... Spot X seems to move around. I think it must fish so well because it's obviously affected by some kind of temporal distortion of time and space that makes it really hard to get to.

Fish the night when boat traffic is at a minimal, use fresh bait, fish the channels around the tide changes.

Kamil

Thanks xtosea, that's a good starting point. Not sure what Spot X means, i thought it was only found in me bath tub!!!!
