Bream

Hi all,

I Caught 7 thumper bream last friday night around high tide near some sand flats in Rosebay.

Water was approx 1 m deep and the bream ranged from 35 to just under 40 cms.

They were very aggressive !

Squid strips and tailor fillets marinated in tuna oil.

MY mate failed to catch a bream, he was spewing !

Only difference was our lines 12lb versus 8 lb.

MR RB.

I hear ya on the light gear for bream. I was into some littlies while trying for mullet using 10lb fluro leader and size 10 longshank. The buggers were so aggressive eating my bread baits and they kept taking the hooks every time the line went in bang! I ran out of size 10's and tried a fairly small red hook and not even a touch, they just sniffed and rejected it from then on. Sensitive little buggers at times.

Hi Mr Rosebay i had a mate too that use to use 12 pound line he used to catch nothing as well,ha ha. I believe the lighter the line the better chances you will have. I use 4-6 pound line varies between the four rods that i use. Each one is set up differently. And each one works differently in different conditions. Great Catch :1fishing1: Some nice bream there this time of the year. I'm trying hard to get out there . I'm going to try get out this weekend, don't know what to expect.

Cheers Jim Bream

Thanks guys,

Yeah definitely big bream season now !

I have been getting some decent catches lately mainly from deeper water on the run out, but the sand flats at hi tide are very exciting.

The only draw back with light line is dropping nice flatties.
