Big Fish Mr A
Date: 3/8/08 Target Species: Rainbow and Brown Trout Bait: Rainbow Powerbait and live Worms Result: 4 Rainbow Trout. 1 x 22cm 1 x 25cm 1 x 38cm 1 x 40cm The Trip: Left a little later than expected but still got to Lake Lyell at about 6am so had a nice early and very cold start!! Set up the lines and had a touch before I got the last one in the water. I thought that we were going to have a great trip with a bite in the first 2 minutes of being there but unfortunately it didnt continue. I got my first fosh at about 11am and it was a baby at 22cm. Soon after at about 11:30 got the second fish. This time I was a bit more excited - came in at 40cm. Then it went quiet again until 2:30pm when I snagged this one at 38cm. Just before 5pm I got the last fish for the day which went 25cm. All in all it was not a bad day except that I lost all feeling in my fingers and toes for about 3 days afterward. It is so damn cold up there. But certainly worth a trip!! Edited August 26, 2008 by Big Fish Mr A

Roffo Hey mate, I was up the back end in the creeks. Not in the main part of the lake. Every time I have been to the main part i get a few fish but mostly smaller ones. I still dont think that there are any browns in there!!

I have not got any at all in my 5 or 6 outings and my mate has been up there a few times by himself too and he has not got any. They are certainly ellusive!! Happy fishing! Matt
My experience is about the same as Roffo's for this year. Only a couple of Browns and they were a bit on the lean side too. Not like last year when we found some thumping Browns. Good to see some fish still coming from Lyell, looks well down since my last visit?
