Bar Up
Decided I would give the new world of soft plastics a go and have lashed out on a heap of Jerk Shad Gulps. I have noticed on several fishing shows that they use a patternoster rig and just use baitkeeper hooks instead of jig heads. Would it be possible to use circle hooks with Gulps? Bar Up. slinkymalinky
I've never done it but I don't think there'd be any reason it wouldn't work. You'd probably have to just pin the plastic through the head... the plastic itself would probably prevent the hook from turning properly if you pinned it like you would with a jig head. You may end up with a few tails being ripped off the hook. If you try it let us know how it goes. Cheers, Slinky
gretsch
It also depends what you are targetting. I reckon the best set up is the appropriately weighted Nitro or similar jighead with a hook to suit the species. I have seen guys mucking around with different set ups and also using two shads on the one jighead. They tend to do this in deeper water when chasing Snapper.
