Underfloor Storage Ideas

Hi Guys,

Im looking at putting in some underfloor storage on my boat,

BUT Im not real confident of doing it myself.

Does anybody know of anyone in the Penrith area that may be able to help?

I have a 5.5metre aluminium boat with the standard ply/carpet flooring.

The only objects below the floorline are the 110 litre fuel tank and Bilge pump.

So im assuming there is plenty of room underneath to make something worthwhile.

I mainly only want to get things like sleeping bags/clothes out of the way.

or hopefully even one or two fish and a bag of ice that may not fit in the esky.

If anybody can be of any assistance, it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Allen.

Before you start - have you confirmed that's all that is under the floor? Have you actually pulled up the floor to check?

It's worth checking - as often your boat will have foam under the floor which helps enable the boat to float when capsized - very important in an emergency! Worth thinking about if you really want to remove (or reposition) the foam.

Pulling up the floor will also allow you to work on it out of the boat - which ensures you don't accidentally cut something you don't want to cut!

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the quick reply,

Your right mate, I forgot to point out the obvious,

that there will be some type of floatation under there as well that i will need to deal with.

I have just contacted the boatyard where it was originally bought from as underfloor storage is an option

when purchasing and building the boat, so Im just waiting to hear from them on where exactly is the best and safest location for it. before actually making any decisions.

So im just wanting to know if there was anybody around that does these modifications (Penrith area hopefully)

that I could take it to for a professional job.
