duck168 Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 I was at Dolls Point Sun morning. I started off with worms bait. Then as the morning grew, I saw and spoke to a couple of fishers flicking sp. They swore that SP can catch fish. Fished with a blue fish shape sp, not working. Saw the earlier fisher landed a fish, and saw them using much larger sp. So I swapped a larger bright yellow with fork tail. Second flick and BANG! I was on to a flattie to 36 cm. Unhook it, and since I was hungry, kept this one. Back to water, first flick, BANG! I lost it about 1 meter from my feet. So my next mission: Research the site for the "best" sp. Go back there and try again!
Hodgey Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 mate. Search no more! Have a look here: Flattie plastics Enjoy! Hodgey
duck168 Posted November 10, 2008 Author Posted November 10, 2008 Thanks Hodgey! Any info on sp technique/s? Cheers.
andrew399 Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Congrats mate, thats a good effort for your first time. For info on technique you can watch the squidgy video part 1, its very informative. But basically, rig them straight, cast out and let it sink to the bottom. Couple of quick jerks, wind the slack and let it sink to the bottom again, and then repeat all the way back to your feet. Search some of Hodgeys posts and there was one in particular that had great detail about winter flatties and there were a few ideas about summer fish tossed around.
slinkymalinky Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Now you've got the disease Duck. Next stop rehab, to cure you of the compulsion to buy ever more styles and colours of tails and heads and ever more gear to throw them around with. Congrats on your first SP fish mate Cheers, Slinky
yakfishing Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 So my next mission: Research the site for the "best" sp. The best sp is the one that has a flathead attached to it, theres not one that will kill everywhere / everytime unfortunately, but a lot of the time I find the flattys arent that fussy and will gobble down anything that moves. Congrats mate. Next stop - Croc town!
