Looks like a big coi/goldfish type thing.

That would explain why it was dead in the saltwater

Some sort of wrasse i'd say otherwise

Hi Josh

thank you I was thinking it looked like a coi or goldfish but I couldnt work out why it was in Brisbane waters I supose it could have been dumped there when it died It never ceases to amaze me what people will dump in our waterways rather than have a stinky rubbish bin!

I think this is a perfect example of irresponsible people disposing of foreign species in our water. Little do they know the devastation their irresponsible acts can incur on water system.

I had a few Oscas that had to be relocated recently and when i called the aquarium i bought them from and asked for their advice as to what i should do to them I was astounded when the owner of the shop replied "just take them down to your local waterway and throw them in".

Makes you wonder!

I think someone has dumped that. Not sure where or if there are any fresh water areas in Brisbane Waters. Looks like a Koi or a big gold fish. I thought wild carp would be a darker colour.

I'd say it was released' and that would be worth easy $350 - $500 from the pet shop / pond shop. I would have tried CPR n mouth to rubbery bits. But just like it's free swimin cuzzies probably better in that state hey!

probably some sort of koi from the chinese gardens that escaped or something

they are worth some money (when alive), few 100 at most

they are expensive these koi. definately not someting you would see here in the wild.

You'd be suprised Glenn, I've caught quite a few koi and gold fish while fishing for carp. You will also get carp that have bred with koi (technically a koi is just a colored carp).

How these koi/goldfish get in our waterways can be any one's guess.
