choad
Sadly not much to report. Hit the water at roseville at 0630 after a sleep in (too exhausted for the planned pre dawn bash). Picked up a squid in mh. couldn't score a yakka at my usual grounds... weird, usually it's all i catch. Put the live calamari out and trolled around north head, the spit moorings and seaforth bluff for zip. Spoke to a few other guys with similar success. Tide was low around seven. Swell was reasonable early on but dying later in the morning. Wind from the south less than ten knots. Sun was scorching. Water very clear. Yakkas absent? weird. It can be a good time to go squidding or to fish for pelagics and blue water bottom dwellers though. Next time mate Cheers jewgaffer
fishmaniac
Unlucky mate... I have personally found the squid fishing at my usual spot really horrible the last few days. I don't know why. But today i didn't have any fresh bait. I had 300g of pillies leftover from yesterday and managed 2 kings, 1 @ 68cm, both on 8lb line. Also few bream and trevally. It has been slow though. And the yakkas and calamari for me have been noticed by their absence. Better luck next trip

barker
Outside certainly was the way to go Thursday. Yakkas were thick as thieves on the inshore reefs and set as livies on the downrigger gave excellent results south of the Hacking on the kings. Mostly around the 60 to 70cm size which was interesting as the smaller kings usually like the squid heads also on offer but were smashing the smaller yakkas one after the other in preference. Just as Byron mentioned - a good day to chase the pelagics outside as the Hacking was still a bit dirty and slow for bait collection.
