Mindi
what pots or traps work best other than opera house traps which I reckon they can just get straight out of..? and is it best to restrict the amount of bait getting out..? i think too much bait means they dont have to enter the trap..? maybe.? advice would be appreciated
Hodgey
GDay mate To the best of my knowledge, Cherabin are found in the northern rivers of Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. I don't believe they are in NSW? If you are chasing them in one of these regions, you need to check the relevant authorities for trap rules and regulations. If it's yabbies you're chasing, have a look here: Yabbie Fact Sheet Fix a slab bait securely off-centre of the bottom of the trap, and they will happily feed there Cheers Hodgey
Moro Mou
Mindi, As Hodgey said Cherabin are found up north. I have caught them using opera house nets sucessfully in the past in freshwater billabongs. We used about a handful of dog biscuits as bait. We did not have any problems with them getting out. The only problem we encountered was a large saltwater croc that took up residence in the fresh water. Cheers Moro Mou
