Bass And Ep Season Closure

After a total of 4 hours of discussions with DPI, I spoke with Mr Cameron Westaway, Senior Fisheries Manager - Inland waters. The key point regarding the season closure is:

1. The purpose of the closed season in rivers and estuaries was to prohibit people keeping EPs or Bass during this period.

It is perfectly legal to target these species during the closure,but they must be released

Thanks for that! I've heard so many rumours about people catching a bass and going to release it only to be sprung by fisheries and fined. Made me wonder what would happen if it were a genuine bi-catch. Thanks though mate, now im not scared to go test out my new yak fishing for some bass. I'm sure the majority of bass fisherman practice c&r anyway regardless of whether it's open or closed season.
