hello guys n girls just am getting into squidding but just dnt know where to get them also what jigs and what is the best type of rod reel combo to use.just wondering where in botany bay or port hacking landbase preferably

thanks brooker boy

Use what you would use for Bream/Flathead. 2-5kg rod 2500 spin reel 6-10lb line is perfect. Something bout 7ft long for a nice long cast.

You find squid anywhere theres weed/reefy bottom.. Upgrade your leader to bout 15lb so if you get snagged you dont lose your jig.

Normal jigs are fine.. If your just starting out use cheap ones so if you do lose afew it wont break the bank and they catch squid just as well as the 20 dollar jigs. Get a few sizes and a few colours .. Depending on the dday just change the jig you will find one day they will like the orange jigs the next day they might like the blue..

Hi Booker

There are heaps of places to get shore based squid in the areas you wanna go.

In botany boy you can try of bare island, the grones at kurnnel or on the sydney side off Captian cook bridge even down at como at times.

In the hacking lilli pilli wharf is good and the wharf at bundeena is very good for big squid in winter. Most of the boat ramps in the hacking have a wharf at the boat ramps any of those should have squid at night. really any wharf that has lights blurring into water at night is a great place for squid

Goodluck
