BillylaBamba
Hey everyone, I am a beginner and wanted to know how to set up a typical bottom bouncing rig; as I will be out on Jervis Bay next weekend. Not sure how to set it up. I have been on a few fishing charters, so I am used to someone else doing it all. 1. How big(ie.Kg?) should the leader line be and what knot is used to tie it to the main line. 2. Size of hooks? Should I use 1 or 2 3. Sinker size? 4. Bait? Berley? Thank You kindly. thomo
You can use dropper rigs with 2 hooks but i prefer using a single hook when baiting. i use 30lb braid mainline and tie a leader about 1m long using a double uni. i have a running sinker (size depends on depth and current) straight to the hook (4/0 or 5/0) then put on a stripbait, however these days most of my snapper fishing is done with 5 or 7 inch plastics. hope this helps cheers tom
DGF
paternoster rig snapper sinker down bottom and 2 hooks above 1. How big(ie.Kg?) should the leader line be and what knot is used to tie it to the main line.2. Size of hooks? Should I use 1 or 2 3. Sinker size? 4. Bait? Berley? 1. i use 30lb main and 40lb leader for almost everything big usually put a swivel between the main and the leader so i dont get twists etc.. 2. 1's or 2's are fine 3. depends on current just need to get to the bottom 4. squid, pilly cubes, chicken n prawns for bait all work well, berley up with pilly cubes or home made mixtures Edited April 8, 2010 by DGF
