Luke K
Hey there, the best way to tell the difference between a tarwhine and a bream is the shape and lateral lines on the fish. A tarwhine has very distinctive lateral lines and has a very round shape. The fish a the top of the first pic is the tarwhine, the rest are bream. And the fish I am holding is also a tarwhine. They can grow quite big. This one was over a kilo and measured 42cm. Hope this helps you cheers Luke

slinkymalinky
If you kept and cleaned the fish, the dead giveaway is that Tarwhine have a black lining in their gut cavity. Bream don't. Cheers, Slinky
THE SWEENEY
Hi all ,bream have 4 rows of scales above the lateral line whereas tarwine have 6 or seven rows of scales ,if you are unsure use the 25cm size limit, remember there is a $300 fine for undersize fish, hope this helps.Cheers Laurie. Trapper Tom
Hey Slinky Spot on with the black gut lining! Luke suggest you check the records sect for tarwine. 42 is a massive fish. Cheers TRapper Tom
