fish53
Hi Raiders, Went out for a few hours on Wednesday 9 May to see whether my new spot was a goer after the heavy rains and at opposite tide to last time. Launched at 7am, headed out and at Towra Point came across a few birds working some fish. One cast and into a nice 50cm Salmon on 4lb fins/2lb nitlon leader using a Squidgy lobby..... strange lure I know but it works. Took 5 mins to get him in and released it. Beautifully conditioned fish and over the next few hours I saw many lots of birds working schools of fish but they were all close to shore and some has perhaps 200+ birds. Headed over to my new spot and using pilchard pieces and nippers (as well as flicking the lobby) managed a couple of nice bream at 30 and 32 before they went off and I moved a few hundred metres and was onto them again. They went off so I moved about 50 metres and came up with this nice 39cm. How about these choppers? Then moved to Near the Oil wharf for these 2 beauties Thats a nbr 6 long shank with a nbr 8 keeper hook so you can realise the size. Then as the wind got up moved back along the beach off the groynes and was on to another patch. At one stage 3 rods going at once with keepers, then they just stopped after about 40 mins. Wind got up late morning and was very strong from WSW when I punched back into it. Headed in about 1pm for a clean-up and some hot coffee. Final tally was I kept 14 for meals and released about 10 others 25-28cm to grow again. Hoping to get out again this coming week. I love having been made redundant so I could buy the boat and go fishing mid-week just about every week (without the crowds of weekends) . It was the who suggested I get the boat and make something good out of bad. Now I just odd job as a handyman for something completely different in between my fishing..... I've made some of you very jealous I know . I LOVE my !! Pete
