troutboy
Took the kids for a picnic yesterday to Lake Lyell, was a good looking day so i threw a couple of spin sticks in the car in the hope of catching a trout or two. When we arrived we found the water levels very low(still 20m from the end of the ramp) and full of blue/green algae.Plenty of fisherman around so i wasnt to dissapointed. Rigged up with some powerbait on a long light leader and set my rod down in a holder and rigged up my lure rod with a tassie devil and proceeded to cast along the shore for the next 1/2hr for no bites.Something had a tug on the powerbait but failed to hook up so i rebaited and set the line only to watch the guy not ten meters from me pull in a lovely brown of about 2kg on worms! Cast lures for another 20mins for no result. No fish but a very pleasant afternoon regardless.
Martin
Great place for a picnic. Shame the trout did not co-operateto cap off the day. Better luck next time round
