Hi raiders, anyone have any experience with omoto reels?

I havnt heard of that name for years! Pretty sure I seen them like 10 years ago they were worth like $40 a pop from memory. Cheap and nasty?

I've been using a DST300 for about 10 years & it's had a lot of use. & until recently been trouble free.

It's now in need of a service but unable to find a local Agent.

Have E Mailed Omoto office / factory in Tawain. Currently awaiting a reply.

If unavailable locally , am considering purchasing a new DST 300 reel from an offshore supplier , approx $80.00 delivered

there great value for money what reel did you have your eyes on

don't think you would be able to get them serviced over here tho

Alan Tani has done some tear downs on some of there reels if you want to see what there insides look like

ive seen the VS-10's for sale over here for around the $240 mark

looks alot like a avet reel but a hell of alot cheaper

I received a mail fro Omoto Tawain. There is an agent in Melb. Contacted them , not very helpfull.

They claim the DST300HL is discontinued yet it is still readily available offshore.

They offered me a cheap reel for $50.00.

As the reel was not available locally purchased from overseas. Price delivered $79.50

Suspect this price would similar to repairing the old one
