Kings, Albies & Fin

Recommended Posts

On Sunday we headed out eagerly in search of some fish as the weather & lack of fish over the past few weeks has kept us at the wharf. As we left the heads the wind was puffing 10-15 knots from the south west but with a forecast for the conditions to improve we decided to do some jigging for kings on the way out.

The wind was making it hard to hold but we managed a couple of kings with Michaels best going 9kg.

We continued on and trolled wider where we found some fish marking at 100m and trolled the area with no luck. Still marking fish we decided to start a trail.. with only a couple of stripes the boys did some jigging and we managed to pull the hooks on a couple of albies. We had a few hookups in quick succession and then hooked a yellowfin that also managed to pull the hooks on boatside. Unfortunately the fish didn't want to come up the trail

Great to meet the new boys on board and good to see Michael & Tim back again. It was an unlucky day for us but again proving that the jigs are going great for the tuna and are keen to try a few new techniques over the coming weeks.

Cheers Mike

Hey Mike, some nice fish there mate - well done.

You're the only one who's managed to get something decent lately!

Last couple of trips i've just had a big fat donut.....

There is always next time.

Cheers on the report.

The jigs were standard knife jigs 200 - 400g.

No we weren't at the 12 mile just a spot we have that we check out from time to time.

Yes we haven't been out a lot but are finding the fish when we do, there is a lot to be said about studying the SST charts and currents regularly.

Cheers Mike
