slinkymalinky
G'day Patchy, What are the specs on the rod (line class) and what are you chasing (salmon/bonnies etc??). Cheers, Slinky
Catchin Jack
The Abu Soron SX & STX are a good reel and would probably suit that rod, the Pflueger Supreme MG is also another nice reel. I'll PM you a link to them. Cheers, Leo

wannabefisho
I'd get a Shimano 4000 series reel and spool it up with a 300yd spool of Finns PRT 30lb with about 100m of 30lb mono backing just to fill the spool. A good reel is a Symetre for your budget.
slinkymalinky
G'day Patchy, Don't think you could get better value than a Soron STX... either the 40 or the 60 (have a look at both and go with the size you're most comfortable with). Under your budget but as good as most reels double the price. Cheers, Slinky
