Day's Fishin
Shark fining-the brutal but lucrative practice of cutting fins off live sharks and then returning them to the sea to die a slow death is banned in Australia but Australia imports 10 tonnes of dried shark fins every year from countries like China and the Philippines which equates to about 26,000 sharks. Dried shark fin is widely available in Sydney's China town for around $1400kg. Reported in the Australian Geographic Jan/March 2009 Regards Jeff Edited August 25, 2010 by Day's Fishin
Jewhunter
This has been discussed in the forums & all agree that it is a practice that must be stopped. Will imports be stopped? We can only hope so. What this post is doing in the 'fishing reports' forum has me stumped. Moved to 'the bar' & closed. Regards, Admin.
