jim77
I am wondering if anyone out there has ever done a DIY windscreen? I redid my windscreen last year and replaced the old screen with some new perspex and just reused the old aluminium frames. It is ok but the frames are pretty beat up and i would really like to get/make a a nice new sturdy screen so that i can then get my canopy re done and get some clears made up. I know that there are various places that specialise in windscreens (mob at seven hills etc) but i know that they are very expensive (approx $700+ for new screen), especially when i can get either free perspex from work or very very cheap! Surely someone out there has either made themselves new frames or knows where to get the aluminium extrusions required cheaply. Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers Jim

Rud
Yes, I need one too (mine is a one piece curved item shaped like the picture but on a 1967 four metre fibreglass Bertram - Caribbean). tried to make a polycarbonate replacement for the perspex and it is a disaster, $135 3mm UV2 poly and about $30 of filler and paint for the frame (to cover the erosion), could not control the heat properly when bending it and got bubbles, smacked it on the edge to force it into the frame and got crazing over an area about as big as my hand, tried yesterday to bend it cold and SNAP it went near the abused area so do not try this at home! I will now settle for a second hand screen if it is cheap enough. (east of Melbourne area).
