Trolling With Hard Plastics

Hey guys I'm relatively new to trolling went out n bought myself a couple of lures n tested them out yesterday on the harbour.

Landed a few nice Bonito in Rose bay they were jumpin out of the water smashing baitfish like crazy! The only thing is I caught them all on the same lure, nothing touched the Rapala that I had out there??. If you guys could help me with some input in regards to whether you use sinkers or how long the leader length should be with Rapala's it would be much appreciated!

Oh and the swimming depth of the Rapala's meant to be between 4-5m if that helps.

Most of the bonito I have caught this summer have been on surface lures like skirts and poppers or on shallow divers. Maybe you were working to deep?

Skirts I use for trolling bonnies are el cheapos and they work a treat, you don't always have to spend much to get good results.

I got heaps of Bonito and a Kingfish on a cheap $5 deep driver, don't need to spend heaps to get em mate !

Just wondering with the lures you guys are using, do you use sinkers on the line? and approximately how long is the leader length?

I know im a noob just wana make sure im doin it right

I've been fishing about 4 m of 20 lbs mono as a trace as the big kings aren't in yet and have not been using a sinker
