I was hoping to sneak off for a day in LA or San fransisco and find a charter. Has anybody done this?, and I would appreciate any tips. Try fishing off the pier at Santa Monica for Sea Bass, Mackerel, Surf perch, Queenfish (different to ours) , halibut. croaker and of course, huge sharks. Fish whenever, wherever, no time limit, and no one to give me "the look"..... There are downsides of course....well.... only one I can think of... I have to do the dishes!
