huckfinn
Hi raiders, Last week i went camping at depot beach and we wwent swimming and fishing quite a bit, while we were swimming over the reefs/rocks we noticed dozens of sea urchins, some as big as soccerballs, i know you can eat the roe but i was wondering if there are any species that are posionuse if you eat them or if the spines are poisonous as well as painful, is there any particular good season to find them Next time ill propably take a spear to catch a few, Cheers HUck

marcel haber
The orange coloured roe within the sea urchin is to die for. Very nice tasting but that may be just the Maltese blood in me lol. Twin

Basil D
Just Grab them by the spines and twist them off or use a hand help spear etc, if they are wedged hard under a rock they will break to peices.
