TM258 transducer for lowrance sounders

Hi fellow raiders, was hoping that someone mite be able to shed some experience on this transducer if at all anyone has this set up on a Lowrance HDS model. Just wondering if it performs well out past the shelf & as deep as around browns etc as they are the usual areas i fish.

Am tossing up between the tm258 or the 260, as there is a price difference between the two, any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.
