Rig question

My question might sound noob so please bear with me

I seen techniques to tie on dead bait, for example pillies. Instead of using say gang hooks, I see some people use a couple of sliding hooks and loop the pillie a number of times to secure it firmly.

My question is, isn't there a chance the fish will bite on the line, and perhaps may end up breaking the line?

Yea, The odd Taylor gets lucky but i find 40lb Fluro leader stops this. The increased hook up rate makes up for it IMHO.

You can rig like so, but I still prefer ganged hooks, it holds the pilchard together better when you're smashing out a big cast off the beach.
