Hello everyone. Got myself a t-curve deep jig 200 and its rated for 170 - 225g jigs. Would i be be able to use a 250g jig on it and still be able to work the jig properly? And also what kind of depths can i run with those sorts of weights?

Thanks for the help.

Jono

Yea you will be fine mate.

I fish with a 60B Saltiga and that is rated to 200g jigs. I have fished with 400g jigs and still catch plenty of fish.

No doubt if you wanted to jig with heavy weights regularly it would be better to have a rod suited for that.

You will be able to jig 100m+ with 250g jigs without trouble. If you need the extra weight to get down, use longer more hydrodynamic jigs that have less resistance through the water (to get the most out of the rod's action)

I use 250g jigs and get them to the bottom of 150+ metre water quite quickly. Just a tip, if your fishing in waters that are known for jackets don't go buying $30-$50 jigs as you may turn out to have an expensive day out. I can go through up to 10 jigs if the jackets are around.
