CaineM
Hi all Just wondering if it is legal to crab in Cowan Creek. Have seen a post somewhere indicating it isn't and people should stick to the River propert and Pittwater. Am out on the water this weekend and was going to place a few witches hats despite it not being the best time of year for them. Not our target species but would be a welcome bycatch. Cheers Caine

Cheers Caine Pretty sure there is a closure on all net fishing, BUT this does not affect a crab trap, ie there is no closure on having 1 mud crap trap. Berowra creek is similar, except there is a weekend ban only. Pretty sure you can find all of this out by looking at the DPI website under closures. Also there is nothing to stop you using handlines for blue swimmers. Matt Edited July 20, 2011 by macman

macman
the way i read that is no fish nets doesnt once mention crustaceans True it doesn't mention Crustaceans, ie you can catch crabs with a hand line, but, witches hats are nets and are part of the closure, I have verified this with DPI some years ago. CaineM
Cheers all for the responses. Might keep the witches hats for the main river to be on the safe side. Caine
