royts
Ok so: I'm not a tournament caster, I don't want endless free-spool time, all I'm looking for is a reel oil for fishing, not for casting! Something with the highest protection possible from corrosion, that will stay in the bearings longer, is cheap(ish) and that won't slow my casting too much. Is that too much to ask for? What are my options? PS: is there a product not necessarily made for reels that can be bought in bulk. Similar to the way Alan uses Yamaha Marine Grease instead of a purpose made reel grease. I'm thinking sewing machine oil, inox mx3 or corrosion x, maybe even hydraulic fluid?
Bruce the Postie
G'day Royts, If you don't want to get too fancy,i have found the readily available and cheap Sure catch reel oil is not too bad at all.It tends to be a bit thicker than the upper level oils, but it's slippery enough for me and it's extra weight should help it stick to bearings and the like for a little bit longer than the thinner oils. Well thats my two bobs worth. Cheers, Bruce
