bignev
can anyone tell me what the compression reading should be on a 1984 Johnson seahorse 35hp thanks
bisso
As long as each cylinder reading is similar, it doesnt really matter unless they are all very low... big variations between cylinder readings indicates issues. should get around 100 - 160 as average for readings. a boat
Hi, all gauges will measure different and as long as they are within 10% of each other that is acceptable. A leak down test is better for determining the condition of bores or why not remove the cylinder head and inspect because that head gasket should be changed every 10-15 years and I bet it has never been done, so by doing this you can see if the bores look good and do preventative matainance at the same time. To do this will be less than 2 hours and the gasket costs about $50 so cheap insurnace to let that engine last another 30 years. Cheers, Huey.
