spin or baitcaster

hey raiders..

i`m looking to buy a rod and reel combo, land based fishing and i was wondering which is better a spin or baitcaster to cast live bait.

I would go the spin outfit mate. No over-runs and better casting distance. I have found baitcasters are useful for short ranged and accurate casts.

If you are unfamiliar with overhead reels I would go for a spin reel, not that it takes a uni degree to cast, but if you've never used one before you'll probably be bound for some over runs.

When you have a livie on the hook, minimizing the amount of time it's out of the water us a must, also getting the cast right the first time is important, a livie only needs to be reeled in one or two times before it looks nackered and not very attractive to a potential passer by.
