Quick session in Botany Bay

Hi Raiders

haven't had a fish in 5 months and decided to head out to botany in my 80% completed Polycraft which i picked up a few months earlier.

Got to the ramp at 9am launched the boat only to find i left the boat keys at home! WTF ! Back home to pickup keys and finally on the water at 11am. :ranting2:

Went to find some kings with some big sluggos but nothing interested... Then went to find some squid and managed 6 green eyes in the hour- not bad considering it was noon by now. Here is the first 2 to call my new bait tank home!

Headed over to Towra has the winds had picked up and managed 5 flatties on a single pink Slambait. As they say, nothing catches fish like a Slambait! :biggrin2:

Back to the ramp by 3pm.. Good day with the fish and madian Polycraft water test (love the boat!)

Heaps of boat on the water.. wondering how other people went today as not many reports?

See ya all on the water

Cheers

Trung

Hi Trung,

Read your other post with the new boat/project, it seems you've done well on your new boat.

We've finally got our boat back on the water again (thanks to Craig at Huett's Marine - a more powerful, and more reliable 2nd motor bolted on the back.

Tried it out on the Hawkesbury on Sat, but will hit the Bay on the 15th of Oct.

Hope to catch you on the Bay in the near future.

Long.

I had to giggle a little re your key situation, reminds me of when I launched my boat with a mate at Botany Bay early in the morning a few years back, headed out to Molineaux Pt, dropped anchor, and then my mate realised he left the tackle box with all our hooks, sinkers, lures back at his house......it was the first and last time I'd ever go fishing again without having my rods pre-rigged and ready to go before launching.

Hey Bert - Need to do a bit practicing first before we hit the big King in NZ... cant wait... 8 weeks before we fly out!

Hey Trung, not a bad way to christen the boat!!! Where in the bay do you get the squid???

mate - you need to work hard for the squid in the bay.. depending on the day you might pick them up at yarra bay, bare island, the gay nudist beach or anywhere there is kelp/sand.

Grab yourself some Daiwa MD jigs in 2.5 and you will get a few.. expensive jig.. work a treat! Good luck!

ps..just find this fellow in a Quintrex 480 boat and he will lead you to the squid grounds.. the particular guy is a crazy bastard and will head out at 4am so he can get to the ground before everyone else! He has a squid obsession/ disorder? :biggrin2:

hey buddy! still got the squidding touch I see hehehe :biggrin2:

well done on the new boat! still got the noodle at the front so we all know who to follow still?

hahahhaha - still love my squidding.. just got to get to the squid grounds before you!

Where have you been for the past few months? Hope to see you out in the water soon!

As for the blue pool noodle.. sold it with the old boat so you all can follow him now.. he specialises in catching puffer fish! :biggrin2:

Hey long -

Good to hear you got re-powered with the help of Craig..

Let me guess.. you caught nothing but catfish in the hawksbury? I have NEVER done well in that water system.. i need a guide....

So i'll see you soon at Mollinuex point over the come weeks!

Cheers

Boat keys left at home = sucks balls...

nothing worst when you are at the ramp already for a fish!

good to see the boats been blooded  howd she go on the water?

Bassboy - new boat is all good.. well sort of. The boat is porpoising at the moment.. looks like the last owner has the motor mount too low.

I'll give the boat 1 more run now as i have fitted a SE sports foil..if it does not help i'll raise the Honda by 1 engine mount hole (i'll get the wife to lift it!)

Well done on the fishing mate and many more with your new boat. I agree with the Slams:biggrin2:

Cheers cg.

Hey george, thanks for your comments.

People laugh when i say i use SLAMbaits... but the truth is i have caught so many fish on them its not funny.. i will outgun my mate who uses gulps/squidgies no problems. They are a little stiff but i work my SP so have never had an issue. A single slam will last half a day!

In the end .. i paid $1 a pack for my slambaits (discontinued product) vs his $8 a pack for gulps.. who is laughing now!

Cheers

Hi Trung,

Did you buy your Slam baits from Grays Online? If not, you might want to check it out, they regularly have an online auction for the stuff.

Current lot ends in around 21 hours, you get 10 packs for around $9 + postage, and each pack contains 14 Slam bait.

I bought a box full a while back, but not had the opportunity to use them.

Regards,

Long

Hey Quintrex480

Have you been out recently?

been out a few times in the last few months, landed a few rats and a couple of just legal kings, but more so to find new squidding grounds but most of the squid were caught in the usual grounds.

and in regards to heading out at 4am for the squid, this needs to be done because anyone arriving after you might as well not even bother unless they can throw their jigs into your squid bucket :biggrin2:

Hi Trung,

I've been out once in about 5 months and I got out there hoping to fish some boats and pontoons only to find my electric didn't feel like fishing that day.

So I can imagine how impressed you were when you realised you didn't have your keys for the boat.wife.gif

Good to see the Polycrafts maiden voyage wasn't as bad as the day startedthumbup.gif

Cheers Brad <><
