lambo Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 gday i have a couple of abu 7000 reels about 6 years old, that have done a great job so far. i do regular maintenance on them and am quite careful about reassembly etc. i have a problem on one of the reels in that the level wind/line guide pawl sticks at one end when under load. no problems when no or very light load applied, but as soon as reasonable/heavy load applied (like when a good fish is on), the level wind stops at one end and the line is spooled at one end. the others work fine. any suggestions ?? cheers lambo
chrisg Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 If the track is clean and lubed then most likely the pawl is worn. They don't look it but when you replace them everything works fine. Don't remember them being too costly. C.
FRITZABU Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 thanks mate. i'll try that cheers Hi I am a bid late on this post ,but was wondering if your reel problem have been solved ? You should also look at the sharp points of the worm .They tend to get damaged and then the pawl will stay stuck in one place .
macka17 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 HI. Look up ABU reel parts in UK. I got a couple for my 7000 and a pr of 6500c3's coupla yrs ago. Think they were 5 UK pounds each incl freight.
