LeoB
G'day raiders Headed out yesterday morning, the water was sloppy in close, but dropped right away. We dropped the lures in at 12mile, and trolled out to browns, and had a drop as there was very little current. Got nailed in about 3 seconds and the haul up began. Lost it about 30-50m upset the boat, so rebaited and dropped had a few more drops without luck. Had a bite to eat and reset the spread. We worked the edge of browns and bang of went the long rigger but no hookup, but the jelly bean yellowfin wanted it and struck another 4 times and we were on. After a short battle on 24kg he spat the hook at the boat...no sushimi for us. Kept trolling till 2 and headed back to 12 mile. Spotted a nice marlin (about 5foot) free jumping 3 or 4 miles short of 12 but he was gone as soon as he came. And we couldn't muster a strike...always devestating when you see the fish. Tried for kings at 12 but got demolished about 3 times on the 80lb gear and lost another couple and a few rigs to probably jackets on 50lb. By this time after 12hrs on the water we headed back to the ramp. Great day out but the fish came out on top. Cheers Leo
