Hour meter confusion

Can any one help me find out how many hours are on my suzuki 2002 four stroke 90hp? Hour meter does not work, the manual says go by the tacho when key is turned on and engine not started. This shows 1900rpm but this figure is not represented in the manual?

Once I find out how many hours are on the motor my next question is where do I wire in an hour meter?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, the manual is correct but that is a high number if a recreational engine so do you think you have done this amount. The best way to not only get hours but alot of other useful info is by plugging in the laptop. As for fitting one, the easiest is the power from the key switch, the best is a service monitor that runs off the HT leads and only works when engine is working.

Cheers,

Huey.
