REEF MAGIC CHARTERS
We are chartering during the comp for 4 days so not competing but had a good day out staying away from the crowds today getting 2 sharks, 1 hammerhead & 1 mako on skip baits then tagged a 120kg black marlin to a first time marlin fisho. We saw a couple of fish tailing today in the swell but couldn't entice them to feed. With 200 odd boats in the comp a surprising large amount went zeros today. The standouts were again Gunrunner, Gale Force & The Force in the tag and release section with 3-5 fish each. There was plenty of bait north & south of the carpark again today with reports of baitballs up on the surface being hammered by striped marlin that wouldn't take a bait. Very frustrating indeed.... The shark boats were in force today and some big sharks captured. Pelagic got a 301kg tiger to be surpassed by Blood & Guts with a 350 odd to then be knocked off by Dark Horse by 10kg or so. There were reports a couple of boats fought fish for 6-7 hours only to loose them at the boat. Tomorrow looks like 20 knots from the NE & hopefully the bite will improve. I will try and update tomorrow night. Cheers Damo Edited February 25, 2012 by Reef Magic Charters
sikisdr69
Awesome catch guys. We Fished the car park today also and was able to pick up our first marlin from one of the bait balls on the surface.. There was about 4-5 fish smashing a ball of yakkas and we got him on a live yakka.. Was a life time opportunity to see such a beautiful site as the fish were swimming boatside as tho we weren't there..=)
