mrsswordfisherman Posted February 28, 2012 Share Posted February 28, 2012 Tuesday,28 February 2012 LakeIllawarra: Exclusive Use this Saturday Roadsand Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence for the safestaging of the Shellharbour City Festival of Sport this Saturday (3 March). MaritimeActing Regional Manager South Coast Wayne Langshaw said boaters shouldkeep clear of an area which will be established at Skiway Park, Lake Illawarra,from 7am to 4pm. “Thisarea – which will be roughly square in shape with sides about 250 metres longand encompassing the public boat ramp and jetties in the area - will be usedexclusively for the safe staging of the festival,” Mr Langshaw said. “Thearea will be marked by buoys, and racing will take place on a 200 metre longcourses inside the exclusive use area.” “Forsafety reasons, skippers should keep clear of this area as it will berestricted for the event and patrolled by control vessels.” Mr Langshaw said unauthorised vessels would not be permitted toenter the exclusive use area unless authorised by event organisers, a NSWMaritime Boating Safety Officer or a Police Officer.
