mercury blue band 80hp power tilt and controls interchangable with later model quicksilver controls

hey guys ive got a 1986 mariner 80hp with power tilt and quicksilver controls however the motor has craped its self and ive bought a replacement being a 1980 blue band mercury thunderbolt 80hp but without power tilt and trim and with older mercury controls,both motors are prety much identical and im wanting to swap the tilt and trim over from the mariner and use the quicksilver controls as there easier to use and have the trim switch but problem is the wireing harness seems to be different at the motor,ijust wondering if any of you guys have tried this or have any knowledge if this is possible.
