Ray R
Hi Raiders, caught this little fella today whilst black fishing, I know he is a Surgeonfish and maybe a sawtail. He had rough skin very much like a leather jacket. This speciman was about 25cms.. Click on the pics to see it at a large size and see what you think. 0 Krispy !
Mate i have to say that it is a surgeon but definately not a sawtail surgeon, i have caught the sawtails in the harbour before and i think that is more of a tropical variety.

0 Blackfish
Goodday Ray R, Bloody common names for fish I have a mate who hates these "common names" as its still hard to ID. He likes the scientific names and this is a great example. I call them Gold Spot Surgeons, you've found, Spotted Sawtail Surgeonfish and Fish Base calls them Yellowspotted Sawtail. I'm quite certain they are Prionurus maculatus Seen them at Winney Bay to.
