bombora Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 (edited) Been seeing a bit of a buzz in the US around the use of chapstick (the lip balm)to ensure far less slipping of knots when joining braid to leader. Some yanks swear it produces a knot much less likely to slip when locking down than wetting it with spit. They in particular say it's helpful with very thin new gen superlines like Nanofil (which demands very good knots). Anyone tried it? result? Edited June 19, 2012 by bombora
bassboy888 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Never heard of it used for knot slipping, but have used it on FC to make it float while using surface lures
boattart Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I haven't heard of it before but when splicing dacron or making wind-ons I always add extra wax to the finished product. Theory makes sense and I will definately be trying it. Thanks for the idea.
LeoB Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 What will they think of next, it's a great idea in theory. Cheers Leo
robeebee Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I have been doing it by accident for years Always use lip balm winter and summer
