troutboy
Hey there OUTNUMBERED i have been using the standard berkley lip grips for about 3 years now with no ill effects to date. Its fair to say that they havent had to handle any big fish (OVER 5KG) as they are mostly used in freshwater fishing for trout but have performed well for me. Guest fishrunner
Yeah have to agree, Iv'e been using the berkly lipgrips with built in digital scale up to 15 kg. They're over a yr old, and have been sitting on the deck in rain and salt water withno drama's, they were also a good price . cheers
Guest Jocool
Lizardboy has mentioned he is getting a set of Predetek ones. They seem OK. I don't use grips...I Gaff my fish! When I catch any that is!
bmar560
G'day Brian, I don't have a lip gripper but my fishing buddy uses a BOGA, it's a solid and neat piece of equipment and I would recommend that to you. One thing though, they're not cheap, maybe eBay can help you. cheers, Mario
Outnumbered
thanks everyone looks like three brands to have a look. Joe using a gaff for your fish? do you find that your C&R survival rates are a bit lower than most?
Guest Jocool
Joe using a gaff for your fish? do you find that your C&R survival rates are a bit lower than most? 57589[/snapback] To be honest Brian, I prefer netting. I'm no biologist, but it doesn't seem natural (I guess sticking a hook in a fishes mouth isn't natural either) to have a fish hanging by its Jaw! Bashir
I have a pair of berkley grips that I never use much these days. I just pick up most fish with a wet towel. Plus I found that the berkley ones definately lost their strength after a short time.
Guest fishrunner
weigh the net first, Then put fish in the net and presto, kind to the fish and gives you an accurate weight as well., too easy. cheers
