Yer I've been trying to figure out how he got me. It broke so far up the braid all I can come up with is something in the water hit it ie another fish or a large stick or he has gone over the drop off and got so deep my braid hit the top of it.

Depends on where you were fishing in MH but i've had big leatherjackets biting my line above the leader lately. Could explain what happened to you. Underwater boulder or snag is next best bet.

Year its time to pull out the big guns. Next session fish 50-80lb. I don't like fishing heavy for Jews but if he go me over the drop off it might be the only hope. Might put out a bait on 30lb mono as well.

mate sometimes what you missed out can be the greatest thrill.

i bet you'd be telling this story for a while and most of all you'll probably end up with new tackle and enthusiasm to nail it next time.

ah im use to no bites chasing big jews. but yep loosing that big one hurts alot. and yes it has been a good story to tell just wish it ended differently hahaha.
