aquila
Hi all Just wondering if anyone can help out when it comes to yabby catching around the wagga wagga area. I want to take the kids out when it warms up and try and get them some yabbies. I fish blowring and Talbingo by boat. any help would be great also am i right in saying that in the wagga wagga area i can only use hoop nets and not opera house nets. Cheers for your help!!!! oz_brett
I used to get my bait from the irrigation channels out back of leeton all to small for eating, Your a long way from there so I would be heading inland from Tarcutta (get away from the main roads) and asking some cockies if they will allow you to try there dams. Chances are you will find a decent guy that will even tell you what dams he has stocked. For the kids I would recomend a peice of cotton & a small hand net for fun while you wait for the hoop net to attract the deeper ones. We still use traps for shrimp in the river down there but I think there are limits to hole size that wont allow eating yabbies in. Take a container of salt with you just incase there are leeches in the dam = pouring salt over a leach will kill it and it should drop off you.
