archilles2
Guys, i'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. My father in law has searay bowrider with a mecruiser ( inbuilt ) engine, a couple of years ago water got into the cylinders and the engine seized. Father in law sent boat away and the manifolds/risers were re done costing almost $ 4k. The bloke from sea ray mentioned ( not the guy who fixed it ) that because these boats are raw water cooled ( meaning water is sucked in from the sea to cool the engine ) they corrode easily , he said these boats are meant for freshwater not saltwater and , this problem will occur every 3-4 years Well, it's been 4 years, and although we flush her with saltaway, I need someone to inspect risers/manifolds before water get to it. ( much cheaper if we find the problem now ) I really need your help as i've turned her into a fishing boat and it's really warming up now Can anyone please pm me or if allowed , recommend a good honest boat mechanic ? Had our fair share of bad mechanics.. The guy who replaced the old ones did a really bad job and the engine seized again, only after threatening them with dept of fair trading did he do a proper job!
