Windang with Tan

Organised a session with fellow Raider Tan to show him a few spots around Windang and the hope of landing a few flattys.

When I got down their their was no rain and no wind so off we go to show them some nice fish producing gutters. Considering the weather forecasts the place was packed.

We hit a few spots with only a few bumps and me getting a solid hit and the fish taking about 10mtrs of line of the spool then spitting the hook. I'm guessing a big Flatty.

On to another spot first cast and I'm in to a nice Flatty about 43cm then I show Tan a Flatty that would have been about the meter or even bigger mark then I spot what must of been her twin sister sitting about 3mtrs away.

So all 3 of us are flicking away with no luck then I flick about 3 feet past her and hook up tight to something with weight and after some help from Tan landed a nice Flatty that we measured to 60cm on the dot.

Well straight after landing the fish the wind and rain hit with vengeance. So we took shelter under the bridge again but this time the rain had set in with the wind so we called it quits and have made plans to head in a few weeks.

Anyway I would like to thank Tan and his mate for a few hours of fun and glad you got home safe in the rain and wind.

Would'nt mind getting in line for the guided tour of Windang.

Its the closest fishing spot to me,but its usually a real hit or miss, and shift work limits times.

Sounds like you were in a boat this time.

I guess with the amount of rain, the lake may get dirty for a while and may slow up the fishing?

Regards Deano

Na I wish I was on a boat just on foot. Plenty of places to fish that hold great fish but no one ever fishes in them if they only looked what was at their feet they would be shocked. Just means more fish for me.

Good work mate, every time I fish there I only manage to catch a cold. Haha. I think the lake would hold good fish I've seen pics of good Jews being caught close to the caravan park. Have you seen or caught any?

Yeah last year I pulled 7 out of that channel. On Friday night a guy pulled on that was about 60cm on a prawn he found on the ground.

. Wow. I might have to start and work out the channel and try to find where these great fish would be found.

Was down in windang on the weekend also, scooped up 2 squids eryhudab.jpg sent it out the back while prawning but no Jew fish takes. Used the 200 grams of prawns I caught on the Sunday and hook a big fatty only to have the circle hook fail as I was beaching her. First I have had the circles fail.

i gave windang a try last week in my tinnie.

Only got the one flattie at 55cm on a 5" jerk shad.

Very first cast of the day, i must've tossed it right on top of its head i wrekon.

Plenty of tailor busting up the surface around the bridge but didnt seem to much else around.

I saw a couple of old guys pull in a half a dozen or so smallish flatties.

I think they were using nippers and plastics.

Its a tricky little waterway.

I might give the lake a try next time i head down that way.

Bad luck on the flatty. Strange things happen some times? Sure you will get a bigger 1 soon. We're you landbase for the squid?

Yeah scooped them up while prawning, rigged one up and threw it out back. Left rod in rod holders on my prawning rig while i continued to prawn. No takers and not many prawns either, too much fresh water coming down. Chinese New year looks to be the jackpot conditions for the next bountiful prawn session :D

Yeah was a massive shame on the flatty, The :wife: upgraded her iphone so i have her old one which has a waterproof casing so i take it fishing and i can finally take photo's of my catches :D would have been nice to have taken a pic of the Flatty, looked about roughly 77cms....but you know how fishing stories are ;)

hehe my prawns are live an kicking when i impale them with a hook through their gullet.....you practically hear them scream in agony as the hook slowly pushes it's way in and then out.

But i agree, the plastics do more damage than the store bought baits and they don't leave a horrid stench on the fingers :D

Good effort!

My in-laws live down that way & I've fished the lake fair few times from boat & land.... Haven't had great success, only few flatties & tailor on plastics...

Being such a BIG lake with a decent entrance, i'm suprised it doesnt fish better.... (Edit: maybe it does fish well & i'm crap at fishing :insane: )
