troutboy
G DAY ALL I fished wentworth falls lake yesterday afternoon in near perfect conditions for a lovely brown trout of about 3 lbs, i say about 3 lbs as while i was fumbling around looking for the camera the fish which was still hooked but only on a very light drag decided to make a last ditch effort for freedom and tangled itself in a patch of weeds just out of reach. I put some pressure on the line hoping to pull free of the weed but the leader broke leaving me with no fish and no lure! The fish eventually managed to free itself but is now trailing about 12" of 6lbs leader and a shiny new f5 rapala hanging out of its gob.I guess the question is will the hooks rust out in freshwater or will the fish shed the lure of its own accord? As a catch and release only fisherman this has got me a little worried .

clutch
you shit stirrer... 59868[/snapback] Yes your right that was unwarranted , I beg your pardon Troutboy I'd have to say that I doubt the lure would stay in the mouth or jaw very long. I think the puncture hole would get larger enabling it to fall out or be brushed off. Clutch
covanova
Could I ask where in the lake it was?
troutboy
Hi guys in reference to the last post the fish was caught on the opposite side of the park at the far western end of the lake. The water is not very deep but plenty of good size fish seem to gather up that end of the lake !
