martinc Posted August 18, 2005 Share Posted August 18, 2005 The recreational sector can not have limits applied on "new species" without a TAC (Total allowable catch) being applied to the pros. This way, both sectrors get regulated to control the resource, and there are control triggers if the level of capture from the pro sector drops off. As for Flathead over 70cm - a bit hard to measure live fish for the spearfishermen - even harder for a Pro who will have to discard a dead fish drowned in his set net.
