Day's Fishin
Decided to go and catch some mullet for crab traps before the bad weather set in. We decided on Cattai Creek, fishing from the reserve. We put heaps of bread burley out and waited for the mullet. No mullet to be seen. Then a sucking sound from the surface indicated an unwanted resident was having lunch. A couple of small balls of bread squashed around the hooks tossed into the middle and slowly sinking out of sight resulted in 2 huge strikes. They may not be the fish that you want to catch but they sure put up a great fight. Didn't have a measure with us as we were only fishing for bait but the foot is a size 10 shoe so you can judge for yourself. Regards, Jeff

Keflapod
G'day Jeff, You fed the carp to your chickens ? Do they really eat fish ? Will the chicken eggs have a muddy taste ? Lol - just kidding - I didn't think chickens would eat fish. Would the carp work as crab bait as well ? There's enough to go around for the chooks as well as the crabs.... Day's Fishin
Hi Tony, I mince the fish and feed to the chickens and they love it. I have tried carp in the crab traps before but didn't have any luck with them. Regards Jeff
