Is lake cathie open to the sea?

Is lake cathie open to the see at the moment and is any good fishing there now

I was down there all last week and the floodwater had made a channel out to the sea.

The water was too brown and dirty for me to try fishing; it had a four inch thick cover of brown foam, although I did see a couple of blokes fishing there at low tide.

It was the same at North Haven and Laurieton, too dirty to fish. The beach smelled terrible with all dead Cunje washed up.

Saw too Sting Rays caught at the North Haven Boat ramp, should be ok after the rain stops and the fresh stops coming in.

No.    Prawns are better when it is closed too. Wade the flats. Howard.

is it the new moon or full moon that you get the run of prawns. Would love to take the kids down one evening.

New moon is best or a few days either side. I reckon you can still get a few at any time, though.
