The weeks and days of waiting to pick up my latest purchase were finally over and after a couple of hiccups at the boat ramp I was finally on the water! Saturday morning we were at the boat ramp a little after sun up and after picking the boat up on friday afternoon we thought it might be a good idea to try and fire it up before putting it in the water.. sounds sensible right? apparently not.. the engine wouldn't fire and soon enough there was no life left in the battery....unhitched it from the 4x4 and got the jumper leads out and let it sit and charge for a bit...then with all that frustration I thought we've come this far I need to at least test launch this boat and we'll go from there...in the drink it went and a couple of turns of the key later she roared into life and we were ready for action...it was now at least an hour and a half after I wanted to be on the water and the sun was in full swing.. no sign of bust ups so we thought we'd head to Lion Island just for kicks to see how the new boat handled..

Halfway across the channel there was a bit of swell about so we bailed on that idea and headed to west head..anchored up and fished but only caught a baby snapper which quickly went back in. We moved around to the next beach in pittwater and has a flick around a weedbed with some SP's and landed a pike which went about 45cm...not much else was about so moved to another spot and still not much happening....saw a bust up happening not too far away so motored over to it and anchored up....out went a white paddletail YUM towards the commotion and on came a nice little mack tuna.. they are such a good looking fish :)..

Today much less drama at the ramp and its fantastic having the large boat because I can keep everything in it from home rather than in the car and then throw it in at the ramp. The Hawkesbury was on the cards today, launched at the ramp just to the left of the northbound side of the F3, motored around and stopped at the pylons next to the rail bridge and threw plastics at it on the shady side, today we werent on the water till midday which was a bit lousy for fishing.. not even an inquiry at the pylons, motored around to the entrance of berowra creek and had a fish for a bit... boated a small tailor that was sent back...moved to juno point but the swell was a bit hairy and the boat doesnt have a sounder yet which makes me a litte sad... so not having fished the hawkesbury before there was nothing taken home for a feed. We had a stop by near an oyster lease but again no hits... sounds like I need a few pointers..if anyone is keep to help a fellow raider out please let me know :) or if you see me around say hi :)

Great report mate. Shame about the fishing though. I've haven't heard many good reports from the hawkesbo lately. I'm glad you got to take your new boat out, it's a good feeling. Especially going from a tinny to something you can stand and walk in.

Cheers scratchie!!!

Thanks fellas, Im not gonna lie it is a super comfortable boat to fish from, my mate and I headed out on it and with just the two of us there was HEAPS of space. At one point we had all the rods on board rigged and out in the water soaking and sat back on the seats with the feet up on a tackle box or esky and it was pretty much the best thing in the world. Cant wait to get out again :)

tight lines
