Thomsons creek dam any good?

I'm thinking of going there for the first time, just wondering how the trout fishing is going?

any advice on location would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mark,

Bear in mind, if you head up there in the near future, its spawning time for the Rainbows, so whilst you might see them it is very hard to catch them lol!

The fishing of late has been tough to say the least.

Regarding advice on location, do you mean where is the place or where to fish?

You may as well fish anywhere, there is no real hot spots as such.

I thought rainbows spawn at the end of the closed season? The browns have already spawned or are in the process of doing so now so wouldn't expect the rainbows to start for a couple of months.

With bow's they are likely to spawn from anytime now till October depends on temps rain etc (mainly applies to streams) but the bulk of bows will attempt to spawn August September particualy the californian steelhead strain we have

The Rainbows have been spawning for around three weeks now.

They tend to spawn early up there. Plus the rain we've had probably triggered them off.

That said, they were spawning this time last year.

The Browns have pretty much finished spawning, or are at least near finishing.
